UAVs gain an aerial perspective on police borders

Border patrol and the management of migration is becoming a topic of increasing contention across Europe. EU member states are adopting new technologies in an attempt to better manage irregular migration and cross-border crime.

Public agencies at both National and Pan-European level are investing significant resources in deploying the most up-to-date technologies, in an attempt to police borders. Attracted by the falling costs of platforms and increased sophistication in navigation and control systems, leading border agencies across the EU and turning to UAVs to gain an aerial perspective on border vulnerabilities.

The current and future potential of UAVs, the challenges surrounding setting an effective regulatory strategy in-line with current aviation law and how UAV technology is facilitating a shift towards preventative border surveillance will be discussed at the Commercial UAV Show in London.
